We offer a diverse range of volunteer opportunities, each playing a crucial role in providing comfort, companionship, and support to our patients and their families. Explore the descriptions below to find the role that best suits your skills and compassion.
- Outpatient Patient/Family Support Volunteers: These volunteers are integral members of our hospice care teams, offering companionship, emotional support, and practical assistance. Their presence provides comfort during a challenging time, whether they're sitting and listening, reading aloud, offering caregivers much-needed respite, or helping with light errands.
- Inpatient Unit (IPU) Volunteers: At our two inpatient units, volunteers are essential in creating a welcoming and compassionate environment. They greet visitors and families, provide friendly support, and assist staff. Volunteers can choose to staff the welcome desk or make rounds, visiting with patients and families to enhance their experience.
- No One Dies Alone Volunteers: These compassionate volunteers provide a vital presence during a patient's final 48 hours when family is not available. They sit vigil, offering comfort and ensuring no one faces their final moments alone.
- Lifetime Reflections Volunteers: These volunteers help patients create a lasting legacy by recording their life stories. The insightful and heartwarming life reviews they capture become cherished keepsakes for families.
- Sewing, Knitting, and Crocheting Volunteers: With nimble fingers and caring hearts, these volunteers craft beautiful and comforting items for our patients. They pour their talents into creating lap blankets, quilts, memory bears/blankets, pillows, and fidget blankets, providing warmth and solace.
- Scrapbooking Volunteers: These creative volunteers assist our bereavement department with special scrapbooking projects, including our annual Fall Memorial. Their efforts help families honor and remember their loved ones.
- Certified Therapists (Hairstylist, Massage Therapist, Reiki Therapist): We welcome certified hairstylists, massage therapists, and Reiki therapists who wish to offer their professional skills to enhance the comfort and well-being of our patients. Your specialized care can make a significant difference in their quality of life.
- Therapy Dog Volunteers (Hospets): Our beloved "Hospets" volunteers bring joy and comfort to patients wherever they call home—whether in their personal residence, a long-term care facility, or one of our Inpatient Units. Accompanied by their trained therapy dogs, these volunteers offer warm companionship visits that brighten spirits and create a special bond with our patients.
- Veteran Volunteers: These dedicated volunteers not only contribute across all our volunteer opportunities but also provide a deeply meaningful service: offering Veteran Honors to our veteran patients. This special recognition is a heartfelt token of appreciation for their invaluable service to our country, delivered by those who understand the unique experience of military service.
